At some point, you may have to decide if it’s time for your family to leave your home and “bug-out” – to flee for safety and or security. It’s stressful to leave everything behind – ask a hurricane victim what it’s like to leave your home and not know whether you’ll be back, and, if you do come back, whether your house will even be there. Ask her what it’s like to decide what to take and what to leave, and ask her what it’s like to do all this in a matter of hours, or even less!

For most of us, there are several options when thinking about a bug-out location: go to a hotel, stay with family or friends, camp out (in a camper or a tent) or go to a shelter. When you’re considering bugging out, here are some tips to think about while you’re developing a plan for your family.
